Unions sign pact with Fair Work Ombudsman to enforce workplace laws
The NUW (National Union of Workers) and SDAEA (Shop, Distributive and Allied Employees Association) have both sighed MoU’s with the Fair Work Ombudsman to help improve compliance with federal workplace laws and to provide a critical evidence base for the FWO to enforcement activities involving serious non-compliance.
In addition to the MoU with the Unions, the Fair Work Ombudsman has recently entered into MoU’s with various employer organisations including the Australian Hotels Association, Restaurant & Catering Australia and the Australian Security Industry Association Ltd. Continue Reading

Compliance major HR challenge globally, survey finds

According to a survey conducted by the Human Resources Director magazine, HR professionals are spending an increasing amount of time managing legal and compliance work.
HRD’s Global HR survey, which garnered responses from more than 4,400 industry professionals around the world, including Australia and New Zealand, found that there is widespread caution around legislative changes. Approximately 30% of HR professionals reported that they are ‘strongly involved’ in identifying risks and ensuring compliance.

Ending Employment
Whether you have a written contract in place or not, employers are required to provide permanent employees with a period of paid notice to end an employees employment.
